Taveuni is known as the Garden of Fiji due to its lush greenery, vibrant colours, blooming hibiscus, plenty of birds and scenic bushwalks.
According to Jean-Michel Cousteau, Fiji is the soft coral capital of the world, so when leaving Taveuni for the next destination you can drop the anchor almost anywhere along the way. Then you just grab your diving/snorkelling gear, jump off the back of your yacht and explore corals carpeting the sea floor, sponges hanging off the volcanic rock walls, jelly fish drifting by and anemone clinging to the rocks. If you are more reserved and conservative, opt for curried prawns, grilled fish or a combination of red mead and lobster known as surf and turf, which is particularly good in the namesake restaurant in Savusavu. In Viti Levu, consider a visit to Wicked Walu Seafood Restaurant, which is an adult only restaurant serving delicious grilled lobsters, battered mahi-mahi and finger-licking desserts.
Fiji is more known for its seclusion and white sand beaches than vibrant nightlife, but that does not mean you won’t get your party fix here. Beachcomber Island in the heart of Mamanuca group is great for partying and dancing. Ed’s Bar in Nadi is a watering hole popular with expats and locals; here you can play pool and listen to rnb, rap, hip-hop and an occasional live band. In Suva you have Bar 66, Dragons, O’Reilly and Traps Night. And then there is Cloud 9. Two-level floating party venue with well-stocked bar, Italian pizzeria and visiting international DJs – you’ll easily get here from Port Denarau Marina or Beachcomber Island.
